Talk: “Life in the Uncanny Valley: High-Functioning Autism”

As autism is being more prevalently diagnosed, it’s likely that you’re familiar with the condition. But it may not manifest as overtly as you’d expect– especially in individuals who have high-functioning autism (HFA).

What does it mean to be highly functional and autistic?  This talk will emphasize the issues of high-functioning adults on the autistic spectrum, but much of the information, such as its etiology, is relevant to autistic people of all ages.

The speaker, Chris Rebholz, ’82, recently earned her doctorate in psychology, specializing in forensic psychology.  Her doctoral dissertation examined the workplace issues of people with HFA.  She is completing her post-doc and specializes in the assessment of people with HFA for both clinical and forensic purposes.
